Yesterday was my first go at the CMRA Forty Furlongs (5 mile) race in Westminster. Looking back through some of the old race reports, it seems that the weather and surface conditions this year were about as good as could reasonably be expected. (Of course, had the race been held today, it would have been at lot less pleasant.)

Trottin’ to the finish.

I ran 35:04, and while I’m generally quite happy with that time, what I’m really satisfied with is my pacing. My mile splits were all within an 8 second range, just running by feel and trying to keep roughly the same effort throughout. (I did wear a GPS watch, but only looked at it after I finished.)
