Unfortunately, for various reasons, I’m going to DNS this coming weekend’s Umstead 100. I know it’s the right decision, but I can’t help but feel down about it (particularly after getting lucky on registration day and securing a coveted spot).

It’s also a little disorienting, since Umstead was going to be my first event of 2016. Barring any last minute decisions to enter something before June (I’m keeping an eye on you,¬†Collegiate Peaks…), my next race is going to be the South Park Marathon. And that’s a big shift in training/prep¬†mindset.

However, with the South Park Marathon being run up in the high country, with a long climb, it should be a good stepping stone on the way to putting myself in a better position to finish the Run Rabbit Run 100 in September.
